The Migration Enlightenment Project Nigeria (MEPN) is pleased to announce that the Stakeholders’ Roundtable Dialogue on Migration – a series of consultation with civil society, will take place in Abuja, Enugu, Lagos and Benin-City.
The forum is part of the activities of the MEPN Plus, a public awareness campaign to promote safe migration in Nigeria.
The Stakeholders’ Roundtable Dialogue brings together youths, parents and multipliers, such as journalists, artists and religious leaders, among others, to exchange ideas and experiences on the issue.
The forum seeks to engender a better understanding of the many sides of migration with the ultimate objective of putting an end to the unnecessary suffering and deaths of young Nigerians who are misled into irregularly migrating to Europe.
Migration is a fact of the human experience and it’s legitimate for people to seek a better life wherever they think they can find it. However, there is an unrealistic perception of migration as the ultimate solution in the quest for self-actualisation among youths.
The MEPN is currently carrying out an information campaign in Nigeria to raise public awareness of the dangers and risks of irregular migration.
The MEPN also provides information on legal ways to migrate while encouraging young Nigerians to take a proper look at all the options available to them before deciding to emigrate.
